Chief Compliance Officer - The Role
Katrin Kanzenbach is a professor of human resources management and law at the University of Applied Sciences of the German Social Accident Insurance (HGU) in Germany and a former head of human resources management at a great insurance company - Allianz SE. She has served as a business lawyer and in a variety of leadership positions in the private and public sector for twenty years. She is involved in teaching courses such as corporate law, compliance, labor law, leadership, and human resources management. She received her first diploma in law at the JKU University in Linz, Austria, and then two Master’s degrees in business law (LL.M) and in human resources management (M.A.) at the FOM University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg and Stuttgart. Her Master thesis focuses on the topic Compliance – The Design and Implementation of Whistleblower Systems. Since then, her area of research and expertise have been comprised Compliance and the Compliance Officer function. While working as a business lawyer, she received an award for corporate law from the FOM, and the opportunity to join a doctorate program at the UCAM University in Murcia, Spain, because of her excellent degree. Her thesis compares the legal framework in the US, in the UK, and in Germany and shows the role of the corporate Compliance Officers in law and practice. In 2018, she organized the first Compliance Forum for Compliance experts in the public service sector, on which she served as a keynote speaker. Today, she is an author of three books, and publishes articles and papers in journals. She is also a co-editor of the journal “Work protection law and practice” and of a recently established new publication series for “Public Management” by the Beck publishing house.
Alain Casanovas is a member of the Board of the Spanish Compliance Association ASCOM and Head of Compliance Services at KPMG in Spain, leading compliance projects for Spanish quoted entities.
He has been appointed as expert and Head of the Spanish Delegation for ISO committees, having drafted the standards ISO 19600 on Compliance Management Systems (CMS) and ISO 37001 on Anti-Bribery Management Systems (ABMS).
He is one of the international experts currently involved in ISO Technical Committee 309 related to the main international compliance standards. An author of various books and articles regarding compliance, he directs Compliance Degrees at Universidad Carlos III (Madrid) and Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and is a lecturer on compliance at Universidad Loyola (Sevilla) and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Argentina.

Dr. Axel Kravatzky is an Executive and Non-Executive Director with over 20 years of board level experience across private and non-for-profit organizations in the financial services, professional services and education sectors. Axel is the Practice Lead for Governance and Strategy at Syntegra Change Architects, a boutique consulting firm offering purpose-driven organizational consulting services primarily in the Caribbean and Europe.
He also leads two online services offerings at tailoredgovernance.com and governancemandates.com. He is serving as the co-convener and editor for ISO/TC309/WG1 which is developing ISO 37000 Guidance for the Governance of Organizations.

Jean-Pierre Méan is a lawyer admitted in Switzerland and Canada. He has been General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of SGS, the world leader in inspection and certification and Chief Compliance Officer of the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction (EBRD). He has presided the Swiss Chapter of Transparency International and spearheaded the issue of the 2011 Edition of the Rules on Combating Corruption of the International Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the ISO Committee working on the Anti-Bribery Management Systems Standard (ISO 37001) and was the Convenor of the Working Group that issued the Technical Specification on Competence requirements for auditing and certification of anti-bribery management systems ((ISO/IEC TC 17021-9). He is now the Convenor of the Working Group in charge of post-publication issues and of issuing a Handbook on ISO 37001 as well as preparing the revision of the standard due in 2021.
Dr. Méan is conducting evaluation of anti-bribery management systems and advising clients on setting up such systems. He is an expert of the German Accreditation Authority (DAkkS) for ISO 37001 accreditation audits.

Peter Jonas was born and raised in Vienna, Austria. After graduating from high school, he went on to study physics at Vienna University of Technology. He joined Austrian Standards in the year 1994 and has worked 15 years in the department of standardisation. Dr. Peter Jonas currently holds the position "Director Certification", heading the certification body of Austrian Standards.

María Luján Bianchi, is a lawyer graduated from the Universidad Católica Argentina (1995), specialized in Commercial and Civil Law at Salamanca University and has an MBA from Torcuato Di Tella University. She worked as a lawyer in different leading law firms in the country for more than 15 years, such as "Carrizo Carricarte, Salgado & Bazán", "Estudio Moltedo" and "Estudio Brons & Salas". Likewise, she practiced the profession for 5 years in São Paulo, Brazil, where she settled from 2005 to 2010. She worked for 8 years at General Mills Inc., as Legal and Compliance Director for Latin America, having under her responsibility different countries such as Brazil , Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela and Central America. She speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese and French. Currently, she is President of the Compliance Commission of IAPG (Argentine Institute of Oil and Gas), professor of the Executive Program in Compliance at UADE Business School, Director of the Program “Compliance from the Federal, Regional and Global Perspectives” at Universidad Católica Argentina Law School and is the Chief Compliance Officer of YPF S.A. since September 2018.

She held numerous operational, supply chain, customer service, and trade compliance roles until she joined CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s leading supply chain management companies, in September 2004.

She is an energetic communicator, with a strong belief in leading and motivating others by example, is sensitive to customer needs, and passionate about culture and values. She has degrees in Social Communication, Public and Industrial Relations of Rosario National University, has a Compliance & Ethics Certification from Argentina’s Association of Ethics & Compliance and University of CEMA, and is an International Compliance Certified Professional by International Federation of Compliance Associations. At CEVA, she worked in the design and implementation of the Global Compliance & Ethics Program, actually continues to work in its enhancement, and supports the company in global compliance and ethics matters. She is the global leader for Anticorruption and Antitrust Programs. At AAEC, she is Co-Director of Institutional Relations and AAEC’s representative at the International Federation of Compliance Associations (IFCA).

He is Director of Farmaindustria’s Code of Practice Surveillance Unit since 2004, Chair of the Codes Committee and Vice-Chair of EFPIA’s Ethics and Compliance Committee, Member of EFPIA’s Steering Committee since 2007 and Coordinator of the EFPIA e4ethics Initiative. He is also Chairman of IFPMA’s Code Complaint Procedure Appeal Group since 2006 and Member of the Ethics and Business Integrity Committee (eBIC) since 2006. He has actively participated in several modifications of the EFPIA, IFPMA and Farmaindustria Codes. He is the author of several publications and articles on the Spanish self-regulation system, the Spanish Code Surveillance Unit and the Spanish Code of Good Practices for the Promotion of Medicines and Interaction with Healthcare Professionals, marketing and generic medicines and compliance in the pharmaceutical industry. He has also participated as lecturer in more than 350 conferences dealing with the previous topics. Those worthy of mention are the ones at the Official Pharmaceutical Colleges, the Institute for International Research (IIR), national pharmaceutical industry trade associations of Argentina (CaEME), Colombia (Afidro), Chile (CIF), China (PhIRDA), Dinamarca (LIF), Estados Unidos (PhRMA), Filipinas (PHAP), Francia (LEEM), Grecia (SFEE), India (OPPI), Japón (JPMA), Korea del Sur (KRPIA), México (CANIFARMA), Rumanía (ARPI), Singapur (SAPI) y Suecia (LIF); other institutions as Yalku-Kon, EFAPCO, EUCOMED, EFPIA, IFPMA, Drug Information Association (DIA) and the Pharmaceutical Compliance Forum (PCF).
